Customizable 404 page template in Canvas
Clients want their own flavor 404 page and Canvas would be truly fully customizable with this feature.
Custom 404 pages can be created from the 404.php file. I don’t see how exactly we can make it customizable.
Why don't you leave this vote open, I'm sure more users want this feature.
This is a great idea. It feels like you're assuming EVERY canvas user has php skills. It would be useful to generate useful content for a 404 page just like a normal page. By create a template that is selectable from the page template bar it allows user to get creative with their 404 page.

Why does Woo offer such useless replies to people's thoughtful suggestions?
Here's one way you could make it customizable:
Make the default 404 page in canvas to be a widgetised page so people can just add and edit widgets in a preconfigured widget area.
Then we could easily add some custom text, a list of popular pages, etc.

Can you specify in more detail exactly what you would want as an option to make this possible?

ACorell, not seeing what you're referring to, I'm running Canvas as a child theme in Wordpress 3.5 multiuser. No Appearance > Editor in either the network admin or the site. Mike Hoefer thanks for the history one can only keep fingers crossed. My clients love my quirky 404's.
If you go to Appearance > Editor, you will find "404 Template" at the top of the list to the right. Cheers.
