How can we improve WooCommerce?

Add a Brand / Manufacturer Field/Taxonomy for attaching to a product

It would be good to be able to add brands or manufacturers in WooCommerce and attach products to them. A user could browse by brand or manufacturer and avoid conflict with tags or categories.

Tags and categories don't lend themselves to a decent domain model in terms of IA.

Greg has the right idea, to use an Attribute named Brand. If you've used Magento before you'll know that rather than having any special Brand feature products are given Attributes which can be nearly anything.

Another quick option is to simply tag your product with the Brand. You can then create a custom menu to let people shop by brand and link to /tag/branXYZ

Is there any way to get an ETA for this feature? I know it's only been 'Planned' for 2 months. I have a big store I'm building and brand functionality would be great. I'd hate to get it all custom built to have that functionality added right after launch.

        Gentlemen -- it's PLANNED.

        Alleluia.

        Period.

        Full stop.

        Whatever...

Agree with Mark that this would be a great addition in terms of IA. Like Greg I'm using Attributes to add Brands to the Additional Information but these are not clickable to a taxonomy page.

The way I would envisage it working would be based on an IA model of:

Brand => Product Category => Product Tags

These could then be displayed as product meta below the the SKU, for example:

        Brand: Sonia Spencer
        Category: Cufflinks
Tags: Birthdays, Christening, Christmas, Father's Day, Gifts for Dad

You could create an ATTRIBUTE for BRANDS, that's what I've been doing, and it works very well.
