How can we improve WooCommerce?

WooCommerce Bulk edit

If you have more than 100 items listed — it's a nightmare to click each one of them and scroll for price field/quantity/articule and so on. Especially if your company is using ERP system and have to sync data between that and WooCommerce. It has to be done in some form (csv/xls or quick-edit function). Bulk import is a must-have as well for e-commerce systems.

        Is there any way to do a bulk edit of products via csv yet?

        I am nearing 200 products which are precious metal based items for a clients site, and they are asking to raise prices by 10% across the board due to increasing silver and gold prices.

        Anyone, any tips on doing this?

        it would be amazing when something is marked Completed, to supply a link to what ever was made..

        The bulk editor interface is nice, unfortunately doesn't work for variations.

        I think it's 1.5 update which brings new functuonality in place (I did not update my version yet, so I can't really comment about it):

        = 1.5 - 01/03/2012 =
        * Quick edit products
        * Bulk edit products

        We make the Smart Manager plugin and the pro version lets you do a lot - including smart updates like "increase price by 20%" or "append **special** to name" etc. The lite version has limited bulk edit capabilities; we felt price and name would be the most common bulk edit requirements and have included them in the lite version...

        Smart Manager does not yet support product variations though. And we are working on it.

        The price - $97 - may seem high, but everyone who's bought it, has found it worth the price. We also have a 30 day refund period.

        Happy to get feedback from anyone who's used the plugin.

        TOTALLY AGREE.

        This seems to be the #1 issue with the plugin. People need product variation support or the plugin is not very useful for large quantities of products.

        Reading the plugin description: "Mass import hundreds, even thousands of detailed Products into your WooCommerce store with Product Importer Deluxe"

        So what happens when there are variations of those 1,000's of products? We have to hand update multiple variations for 10,000 products??? That seriously handicaps this plugin. And then we won't even be able to keep updating it with our base CSV, and Visser labs export plugin doesn't export those fields. This doesn't make sense when other eCommerce solutions like Amazon, magento, others already have support for product variations.

        I would really love if WooThemes and Visser Labs get on board on this and get it done soon!

        Just wanted to add that this should not be part of an addon, it is basic functionality and should be part of the plugin itself.

        I completely agree! I have spent the last several days trying to figure out how to do the mass import/export to change things easily. We are thinking about switching from ZenCart, but now am not so sure. They have, built in, a export/import feature that makes big changes to product pages easy and efficient.

        Visser Lab's importer deluxe is OK... but it falls short for importing and exporting as it only allows simple products. That's fine if you sell 1 size and 1 color of everything in your store. However, for stores with 100000 SKU's you need a way for bulk importing that Visser's plugin does not provide. I agree with others that any serious e-commerce system needs import/export functionality for things like:

        Products and Product Variations with automatic variation linking ability for WC
        Customers
        Sales Orders
        Google Products or similar

        Also agree there needs to be support for ERP systems or at least the ability to import/export into and out of these systems.

        I just tried this plugin, the free version is very limited, I could only change price and the name of the product, this is nice but not a big improvement.. The premium version might be better but I think it's very expensive.. I think that this should be a part of the WooCommerce Plugin - just to extend the current WP quick edit functionality and add woocommerce product fields will be the easiest solution along with the importer deluxe (when it will work well, now it's still not doing updates.)

      • ZoremZorem commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

        I think it should be both for CSV import/export (when you export you can edit and re-upload the same file) - in addition the ability from the regular wordpress admin to bulk edit woocommerce fileds..

      • ZoremZorem commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

        After working with Magento a few years, I totally agree, the import extension should be part of the ecommerce, it's a standard functionality, also the "insert else update" for bulk updates.
        The quick edit is useless as it is today and should contain many more options as you mentioned..
        Also, it should allow import profiles.

        What about export? it's more or less the same with small changes...
        I see another extension for $50 that integrate with Google shopping but if you need to export for other channels? (affiliate feeds, other shopping sites, etc',) I am always willing to pay for extensions but they have to be more complete..

        @Lucas
        I think interface is the secondary thing. In most e-commerce systems mass/bulk updates work via csv/xml/xls files. This functionality is a must in my opinion for any e-commerce system to suit most needs. For example, I know and work with people who has around 6000 positions on the warehouse. It's impossible to meet their requirements with current state of the WooCommerce. Even if you have to manage roughly 100-200 items data-base — when it comes to updates, you want to use predifened format to meet such needs (almost every ERP system on the marker able to export such data). Alternatively small improvements for quick-edit on a price could simplify routine work for "small" businesses.

        TL:DR
        1. CSV/XML/XLS import and updates.
        2. "Quick edit" function for prices + for 3-4 customized user fields/categories.

        I really love woothemes' work and I would love to use it more often. Thanks to everyone for the support.

        To this i'd add the ability to bulk edit variations within a product. You have the same maintenance nightmare if you want to change prices on one specific variation out of 15 in a product, of which you may have 200 products. See how ugly this can get without good editing tools... Oh and while here, add coloumn sorting & filtering for variations too. Add a 'quick edit' button for weight too.
